A few days back Business Insider stated in an article that 533 million Facebook users’ phone numbers and personal data have been leaked online. Facebook Data Leak has created a lot of noise all over the Internet.
Users from 106 countries across the globe were included in the mentioned figures. With around 32 million affected users, the USA tops the list, followed by 11 million in the UK, and 6 million from India. Leaked data includes phone numbers, Facebook IDs, birth dates, full names, locations, email addresses, etc.
It is not the first time that the Social Media giant is being portrayed in a negative light for the data leak. Back in 2019, phone numbers and other data related to around 419 million Facebook accounts were found online. Prior to that, more than 80 million profiles were affected during the 2016 US Presidential Election – Cambridge Analytica and Facebook Scandal.
This time, Facebook in its official statement, informed that the data was not hacked but it was scrapped from their platform. So, we can consider it as an official confirmation that Facebook’s data was leaked. Whether it was hacked or scrapped, the end-user does not care. What he cares about is his data should be secure and safe. But in this case, as an end-user you should be aware of that – Yes, 533 million Facebook users’ phone numbers and personal data have been leaked online.
How to check if your data is a part of a data leak?

Currently, this service only works for Indian numbers. However, Company is planning to include all affected countries in the near future. There is a possibility that the company may add additional functionalities apart from mobile numbers.
