China could claim the moon as its own territory

This bold statement came from the NASA Chief.

NASA Chief Bill Nelson said that China could do that if it beats the US in the race to the lunar surface.

He also said that the Chinese military activities in South China Sea was an indicator for probable happenings on Moon.

According to recent photographs, China has set up a military on the Spratly Islands, a disputed archipelago in the South China Sea. 

Nelson also believes that China had enjoyed "enormous success and advances" in its space program over the last decade.
