5 hours of Traffic Jam Costed ₹225 Crore to Bengaluru IT Firms

Bengaluru IT firms reported loss of ₹225 Crore as their employees faced worst traffic jam for 5 hours on 30th August 2022.

The Outer Ring Road Companies Association also written a letter to the state Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. 

The letter stated that if the situation not changed, companies may have to look for an alternative destination from the IT hub of the India.

The association also mentioned that the infrastructure of the Outer Ring Road is very poor and now reached to the crisis level.

According to the letter more that half million people are employed on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) stretch, starting from Krishnarajapuram to the Central Silk Board area in Bengaluru.

The 17 km stretch is also providing direct and indirect employment to over a million people and has a great contribution to the economy of the state.

President of the ORRCA, Manas Das and Vice-President, Archana Tayade told the media, “ORR IT generates revenue of USD 22 billion per annum, which is 32 per cent of Bengaluru’s revenue, and is the highest tax contributor”.

It is very unfortunate that the area is not getting enough focus from the authorities.
